RESEARCH PERMISSION

Optional research participation

Consent information version 2.1 · Effective September 6, 2026

You do not have to join research to use the Registry. Personal Registry use and research permission are separate choices.

What you are being asked to allow

If you voluntarily opt in, eligible Registry information you enter may be used in de-identified or privacy-protected research analyses about reported psychedelic experiences, context, safety, wellbeing, and longitudinal outcomes. Research use is observational and does not assign or direct substance use.

What participation involves

You may choose to complete a research profile, describe one or more experience episodes, and complete assessments or follow-ups over time. Some questions may concern mental health, trauma, wellbeing, difficult experiences, safety events, or other sensitive topics. You may skip optional questions or stop using the Registry.

Possible risks

Possible risks include discomfort from answering sensitive questions, privacy risk if information is disclosed or if identifying details are entered into free text, and the ordinary risks associated with using an online service. The Registry reduces but cannot eliminate privacy and cybersecurity risk.

Possible benefits

You may or may not receive a personal benefit. The Registry may help you organize your own longitudinal record. Future aggregate research may contribute to understanding real-world experiences, but no benefit to you or to others is guaranteed.

Voluntary choice and withdrawal

Research participation is voluntary. Choosing “platform use only” does not block personal Registry use. If you opt in, you may later withdraw permission for future research use from your workspace. Withdrawal is prospective and may not undo research analyses or aggregate outputs already completed before withdrawal.

Privacy and confidentiality

The Registry uses pseudonymous participant IDs and asks you not to enter direct identifiers in free text. Research-eligible data are intended to be handled through privacy-protective governance and restricted exports. See the Privacy notice for additional information.

Research status

The Registry does not currently claim IRB approval, government endorsement, institutional sponsorship, or formal security certification. Before publication-quality human-subjects research or external research use, the Registry intends to obtain the appropriate human-subjects determination and complete additional governance steps described on the Research & Privacy page.

Your permission record

After joining, participants can review their pseudonymous permission history and current privacy/research status from the participant workspace. Research permission is versioned separately from the Privacy Notice and Terms of Use.
