PRIVACY

Privacy & data use

Effective September 7, 2026 · Version 1.2

Privacy-first design. The Registry is designed to minimize direct identifiers and uses pseudonymous participant IDs. Do not enter your name, street address, access key, passwords, or other identifying details in free-text responses.

Who operates this Registry

The Psychedelic Experience Registry is operated by Julie-Renee.org LLC. Questions about this notice or Registry data practices may be sent to privacy@psychedelicexperienceregistry.org.

What the Registry may collect

Account and access data

A randomly generated participant ID, a securely hashed access credential, account timestamps, and consent status/version. The Registry does not require a name-based account.

Participant-entered information

Optional broad demographics, research profile information, episode context, reported exposures and co-exposures, wellbeing and outcome measures, safety events, and follow-up responses.

Technical data

Hosting and security systems may process ordinary connection and request information needed to operate, secure, diagnose, and protect the service. The Registry does not intentionally use participant free text as an identity source.

Volunteer applicant information

Volunteer correspondent applications may collect identifiable information including name, email, location, background, affiliations, LinkedIn and Facebook profile URLs, a resume/CV, and a link to a short introduction video. These materials are used for volunteer screening, administration, conflict-of-interest review, orientation, and public-facing role suitability. Volunteer applicant information is maintained separately from pseudonymous participant and experience records and is not collected as psychedelic research data.

Why information is used

Information may be used to provide the participant workspace, preserve longitudinal records, operate and secure the service, troubleshoot problems, produce privacy-protected aggregate displays, and—only when the participant has separately opted in—support eligible de-identified research use. Volunteer applicant information may separately be used to review identity, background, conflicts, communication style, role suitability, orientation readiness, and administration of the PER Regional Correspondent Network.

Platform use and research permission are separate

You may use the Registry without opting into research. Research permission is recorded separately. A participant who opts in may later withdraw permission for future research use from the participant workspace. Withdrawal is prospective: it does not necessarily remove information from analyses, aggregate results, or research outputs already completed before the withdrawal was processed.

Sharing and disclosure

The Registry is not designed to sell participant records or direct-identifying profile information. Data may be processed by service providers needed to host, secure, maintain, or operate the platform. Research access should be limited to appropriately governed, research-eligible data and is subject to the Registry's research-governance process. Information may also be disclosed when legally required or when reasonably necessary to protect the service, participants, or others.

Retention, correction, and deletion requests

The Registry retains information as needed to operate the longitudinal platform, maintain research provenance, administer volunteer programs, protect security, and meet applicable obligations. Volunteer screening materials, including profile links, resume/CV files, and video links, may be retained while an application is under review and as reasonably needed to document volunteer selection, orientation, active service, or related administrative decisions. Retention periods are still being formalized. Requests concerning correction, deletion, or other privacy questions may be sent to privacy@psychedelicexperienceregistry.org. A deletion request is different from withdrawing future research permission and may require case-by-case review. The Registry does not currently provide an automated self-service deletion function.

Important distinction: withdrawing future research permission does not itself delete your Registry records or revoke access to your workspace.

Security

The Registry uses technical controls intended to protect participant information, including HTTPS, pseudonymous identifiers, access-key authentication, protected administrator functions, and restricted research exports. No internet service can promise absolute security, and the Registry does not claim a formal security certification. Suspected security issues should be reported to security@psychedelicexperienceregistry.org. Do not send an access key by email.

International participation

Participation is open internationally, but privacy and data-protection rules differ by jurisdiction. The Registry does not represent that one legal framework applies identically to every participant. Additional jurisdiction-specific notices or controls may be added as the Registry's governance develops.

Children

The Registry is intended for adults age 18 and older. The join flow requires an age-18-or-older attestation.

Changes to this notice

Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date and version. Research-consent language is versioned separately so changes to research permission can be tracked.
